True responsibility requires moving beyond simply doing less harm to actively doing more good. As natural fibre specialists, our commitments are anchored in regenerative agriculture, uncompromising ecosystem respect, and data-driven accountability. By designing without synthetics, we ensure every garment works in harmony with the natural world, actively combating microplastics and setting a new standard for honest production.
RESPONSIBILITY, TAKEN SERIOUSLY
At Sheep Inc., impact isn’t a separate initiative — it’s the consequence of every decision we make. Responsibility is embedded into the system rather than added on afterwards, from how our fibres are grown to how garments are designed, tracked, and cared for. This allows us to measure what matters, improve where we can, and remain honest about where we’re still learning.
To support this, we earmark a portion of our profits for our Radical Farming Fund, which supports groundbreaking projects in sustainable farming. Our goal is to advance practices that are both ecologically sound and economically viable—from innovations in soil health to community-driven agricultural projects. It is our long-term commitment to a more restorative fashion ecosystem.
BEING NATIVELY SUSTAINABLE
We design garments to work in harmony with natural systems, not in opposition to them.
By working exclusively with a curated palette of natural fibres, we eliminate the reliance on fossil fuels and actively combat the spread of microplastics. Natural materials are renewable, biodegradable, and possess inherent performance qualities—reducing the need for synthetic alternatives and chemical treatments.
But leaving “no trace” isn’t enough; we aim to leave the earth better. Sourcing our natural fibres from pioneering regenerative farms means our raw materials actively act as a carbon sink. For example, our regenerative wool yields a carbon impact of -14kg CO2e per kg, sharply contrasting with the 20-30 kg of CO2e emitted by an average UK farm. By working with nature rather than attempting to override it, we create products that are both high-performing and natively carbon negative.
Sustainability, for us, begins with material intelligence.
We partner with farms that prioritise regenerative practices—viewing the landscape as a dynamic, interconnected ecosystem rather than a production unit. These methods aim to restore the land rather than simply maintain it. By employing active techniques like cover cropping, no-till farming, and composting, our partners build soil health and sequester carbon. Vegetative buffer strips are established to prevent soil erosion and protect local waterways.
This approach looks beyond yield alone, supporting biodiversity, water retention, and stronger natural systems over time.
THE FARM
-14kg CO2e (Average carbon sequestered per kg of wool/fibre through regenerative farming practices).
THE FACTORY
+0.5kg CO2e (Emissions kept low through 100% solar-powered manufacturing).
THE JOURNEY
+0.8kg CO2e (Including emissions from transporting the garment to the customer).
THE RESULT
A Naturally Carbon-Negative Garment.
RESPECT FOR ANIMALS & ECOSYSTEMS
Respect for the natural world is non-negotiable.
Where our materials rely on animals, we source from farms that uphold the highest welfare standards, including the rigorous ZQ animal welfare standard—achieved by only the top 1% of farms worldwide. Our sheep are free-range, roaming open pastures with typically more than an acre of space each. We strictly guarantee the Five Freedoms of animal welfare, ensuring they are treated with care and are free from thirst, discomfort, disease, and distress throughout their lives.
Crucially, painful procedures like mulesing are strictly prohibited. Practices are selected not only for fibre quality, but for the wellbeing of the animal—because good material should never come at the cost of unnecessary harm.
Animal welfare is a foundation, not a feature.
DATA-LED IMPACT ASSESSMENT
Intent matters — but evidence requires independent validation. Our commitment to transparency and genuine sustainability means that we don’t just rely on our own data, but actively invite third-party scrutiny.
Understanding our true environmental impact isn’t a quick assessment—it requires patience, diligence, and a long-term perspective. By investing in multi-year on-farm Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) in partnership with sequestration and emission experts in New Zealand, we aim to capture accurate, comprehensive data that reflects the holistic impact of our practices. This assessment rigorously probes every facet of our operation, ensuring that no emission, no matter how small, goes unnoticed.
To ensure our measurements remain impartial and align with globally recognised benchmarks, we partner with Carbon Footprint Ltd., adhering to the Carbon Neutral Protocol. Furthermore, our LCA’s findings are validated by Toitū Envirocare, in accordance with the strict requirements of ISO 14064-1:2006. This is a living, evolving assessment designed to keep us at the forefront of sustainable science.
CERTIFIED B-CORP
Trust is earned, not just claimed. We are proud to be a Certified B Corporation, meaning our entire operation is independently verified to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. This certification proves that our commitment to doing better is legally binding and rigorously measured.
For us, B Corp isn’t a finish line—it’s a framework that pushes us to continuously improve.
DESIGNED TO LEAVE LESS BEHIND
Ultimately, the greatest impact a garment can have is staying in use.
By combining responsible materials, regenerative sourcing, transparent data, and long-term care, we aim to create pieces that are worn longer, replaced less often, and valued more deeply.
Because doing less harm isn’t enough — we believe clothing should actively do better.
